Potion Bottle Mark II


A variation on my potion bottle dice bag pattern. This one is more squat and rounded, with a slightly larger mouth and cork.


measurements:
3.5” tall, not including cork
4” diameter at the base
2 1/4” cork

materials needed:
*size G hook
*medium weight yarn in three colours--potion bottle, edging, and cork/stopper (I used red/gold/brown)
*handful of cotton batting to stuff cork

bottle-
to start: chain 16, connect to first chain to form loop
1: ch1, sc loosely in every ch around, join (16)
2-6: ch1, 1 sc in every st around, join (16)
7: ch1, 2 sc in every st around, join (32)
8: ch1, 1 sc in every st around, join (32)
9: ch1, 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 7 st, repeat around, join (36)
10: ch1, 1 sc in first 11 st, 2 sc in next st, repeat around, join (39)
11: ch1, 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 12 st, repeat around, join (42)
12-15: ch1, 1 sc in every st around, join (42)
16: ch1, work in back loops this round, sc2tog, sc in next st, repeat around, join (28)
17: ch1, sc2tog 3 times, sc in next st, repeat around, join (16)
18: ch1, sc2tog, sc in next 2 st, repeat around, join (12)
19: ch1, sc2tog, repeat around, join (6)
tie off, use tail to weave together remaining gap, and weave in ends

trim-
1) attach yarn to row 15, sc every st around, join, tie off
2) attach yarn to row 6, sc every st around, join, ch 22, tie off, leave tail to attach cork
3) using a length of yarn approx 3ft long, wrap mouth of bottle, tie off

cork-
to start: chain 3, connect to 1st ch to form loop
1: ch1, sc 8 in loop, join (8)
2: ch1, sc 2 in first st, sc 1 in next st, join (12)
3: ch1, sc 2 in first st, sc 1 in next 2 st, repeat around, join (16)
4: ch1, sc 1 in first 3 st, sc 2 in next st, repeat around, join (20)
5: ch1, sc 2 in first st, sc 1 in next 4 st, repeat around, join (24)
6-8: ch1, sc in every st around, join (24)
9: ch1, sc2tog, sc in next 2 st, repeat around, join (18)
10: ch1, sc2tog, repeat around, join (9)
stuff cork with cotton batting.
11: ch1, sc2tog 4 times, sl st in last st, join,
tie off, use tail to weave gap closed, attach to trim chain
